Hi, I just replaced my little Logitech Z130 PC speakers with a used pair of Bose Companion 2 Series II from a reliable Ebay seller. I expected more volume from these larger (and heavier) speakers. I certainly have bass that I never heard on my Logitechs, as expected, but the overall volume is about the same. I'm not a loud music fan at all; I got these to improve audio for my video editing as well what listening I do on YouTube or otherwise, as opposed to the non-computer stereo system.
I'm running Windows 7 on a custom i5 machine, no separate sound card. I know larger speakers (i.e., bookshelf on up) come in different impedances and require different wattage levels for driving them properly. I bought the Bose despite some reputation for heavy bass, which I'm not interested in. Am I simply under-powered here? If so, is there an inexpensive fix, such as a very small preamp or something? Or, would I be better off reselling these for a better pair of Logitechs? Thanks! For more details: Whiteboard Overview Video
